Deer Resistant

Deer love to eat garden plants. To meet this challenge, I began this project with raw land and a clean slate. The plant palette was selected to accommodate the client’s preference for California natives such as Manzanitas, Toyons and grasses. The exposure was bright, full sun in a hot climate area of Sonoma County. I used darker-hued plants to tone down the brightness and compliment the colors of the residence. The hillside in the back of the property gave me a perfect canvas for some fun Cordylines, Euphorbias, Coprosmas. In addition, I created an outdoor oasis with a stone fountain and trailing plants over the retaining wall. This is a good example of how correct plant selection can solve problems (the deer mostly went elsewhere).
